We are committed to working with our community, supporting tomorrow's top chefs, aquaculturists and up-and-coming young fishers!
We have encouraged our future chefs to experiment with barramundi, with incredibly creative (and tasty!) results. Humpty Doo Barramundi has supported Charles Darwin University's trainee chefs through numerous culinary competitions, including 'Taste of the Territory'. We have also supported Nestle's National Golden Chef's Hat competition in past years through the supply of our premium barramundi to the state and national final cook-offs.
Humpty Doo Barramundi regularly supports local Charles Darwin University aquaculture students through work placement opportunities to help with developing our farmers of the future.
Each year, Humpty Doo Barramundi works with the Palmerston Game Fishing Club to run a skills workshop for their junior members on our farm. It's exciting to see kids learning catch and release techniques and the finer points of fishing, while enjoying the great outdoors.
Our commitment to our environment
We pride ourselves on our rigorous environmental management systems. We have reduced our water discharge to almost nil by recycling it through a purpose built constructed wetland system to deliver the highest quality produce, while protecting our unique environment.
Our water treatment system is the first of its kind in Australia. We recirculate our salt water using a manmade wetland to ensure optimum water quality for our fish while minimising the need to release water back to the Adelaide River.
